Implementation of the Action Plan for Endangered Species for Freshwater pearl mussel (Margaritifera margaritifera) in the Boletice Military Training Area

The project is financed by EHP funds 2009-2014 and by the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic. The aim of the project is implementation of action plan for freshwater pearl mussel (Margaritifera margaritifera), namely mapping and research of its food resources and monitoring of the brown trout populations in relation to reproductive possibilities of the fresh water pearl mussel. The project is conducted in the Boletice Military Training Area (BMTA), which includes headwaters of the Blanice River and its tributaries. Blanice River basin is crucial for freshwater pearl mussel conservation, as it is inhabited by the largest freshwater pearl mussel population in the Czech Republic that is one of the largest populations in Central Europe.
